Rugby is a growing sport in Cyprus. Paphos Tigers are developing a programme to encourage youngsters through the ranks of both the Mini's and Colt's rugby with a long term view to strengthen the senior and international squad of future years.
The Paphos Tigers Mini's are raising money so they can enter and compete in the Junior Rugby Tournament in Cairo, Egypt, March 2010. This opportunity has not been open to them before and would be great chance to put Cyprus Junior Rugby on the map.
We are hoping to enter an under 12's team and also give our players that do not fit into that age group, the chance to play with other teams. Our juniors will be playing in the tournament on the first day with the option to learn rugby techniques on the second. Hopefully they will also get the chance to visit the great pyramids.
Various fund raising is planned including a sponsored walk, carol singing, a cook book, a Valentine dinner, etc. However, we are also looking for sponsorship for the trip, so if you are a company or individual that would like to sponsor our youngsters and give them this chance, please contact us.
The Tigers are always open to newcomers and welcome new players, whether experienced or novice of any nationality.
